1/2 c. margarine
1 c. white sugar
1 tbsp. molasses
1 egg
2 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. buttermilk
splash of milk
Icing:
1/4 c. margarine, 2 c. icing sugar, 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter until fluffy, add sugar gradually, beating well after each addition.
Beat in egg, molasses. Separate bowl mix flour, baking soda, salt and spices together. Add to mixture gradually with milk.
Spread in an 8x8" pan (or tube pan)
Bake at 350º for 45 minutes
Frost with browned butter icing.

Icing:
Put margarine in saucepan and set over medium heat until golden brown (do not scorch) Remove from heat and stir in icing sugar & vanilla. Add enough milk to make it easy to spread.
