Cake:
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 T cocoa
2 1/4 cups cake flour
1 cup buttermilk
2 oz red food coloring
1 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vinegar

Frosting;
5 T flour
1 cup milk
1 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar, eggs- beat well. Add cocoa, red food coloring and vanilla.
Sift flour and salt together and add to creamed mixture alternating with the buttermilk then add baking soda and vinegar.
Bake at 350 for 35 minutes

Frosting-
cook flour with the milk over low heat- cool
cream sugar, butter and vanilla
add flour mixture to creamed mixture
