1 quart (4 c) apple cider
12 cinnamon fire Jolly Ranchers

Place cider and unwrapped candies into a saucepan or pot. Heat over medium heat just to a boil, stirring occasionally. The candies will become very sticky and eventually melt completely right at the same temperature that the cider boils. Stir to ensure that all of the candies have completely melted, then serve immediately.

This recipe was a total experiment on my part that is now a fall staple. I made these for the Pioli family at Aunt Lisa's place in Kansas for at Christmas one year. I couldn't believe that it was Nonnu's (Walt's) first time ever trying apple cider! He marveled at the novelty of hot apple juice and was blown away at the taste. I like the sweet and spicy kick that the jolly ranchers add. You can make this with more or less candies, to your liking.
