Rose Shelanskas

1 pounds ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1/4 cup (half stick) butter
2 tsp. salt (I think that can be reduced)
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 cups diced celery
1 cups water
1/2 cup sliced water chestnuts
2 cans (1 lb.) bean sprouts, drained
1 jar (4-1/2 oz.) sliced mushrooms
2 tbsp. chopped pimiento (optional)

Thickening: 3 tbsp. cold water, 3 tbsp cornstarch, 1-1/2 tbsp. soy sauce,
1-1/2 tsp sugar, 1 tsp brown gravy sauce

Cook beef and onion in butter, until lightly browned. Add salt, pepper, celery and water.
Bring to boil. Cover: simmer for 15 minutes. Add remaining vegetables: Heat until hot.
Combine thickening ingredients: add to meat mixture. Cook until slightly thickened, stirring constantly. Serve over hot cooked rice and chow mein noodles.
