1 c sugar
½ c shortening
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp soda
1 c persimmon pulp
2 c flour
1 tsp salt
½ tsp cinnamon
⅛ tsp cloves
⅛ tsp nutmeg
1 c chopped nuts
Directions:
Directions:
Cream ½ cup sugar with shortening. Mix remaining sugar with egg; combine the mixtures. Dissolve soda in persimmon pulp (peel persimmons and mash to make pulp) and beat into sugar mixture. Mix dry ingredients and blend in. Mix in nuts. Drop from a spoon onto a greased baking sheet. Bake 10-15 minutes in 375º oven.
