"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

Ingredients:
Sauce:
1 ½ lb. hamburger (lean, cooked, and drained)
5 cans tomato sauce (8oz)
1 ½ t oregano
1 - 2 T onion flakes
½ t salt
¼ t garlic
1 t sugar
Dash pepper.
8 oz lasagna noodles (cooked)
1 24 oz package small curd cottage cheese
1 4 oz pk mozzarella cheese
Parmesan cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Mix meat sauce (1st 8 ingredients) and simmer for at least 30 minutes. The longer you simmer, the better it is! Cook lasagna noodles, drain, and cover in cold water so they don't stick together. Layer sauce (very little on bottom), noodles (let them drip a little), meat sauce, cottage cheese, noodles, meat sauce, mozzarella, noodles, meat sauce, parmesan, cheese

Traci’s changes - Sauté 1 onion, 5 minutes, add sliced mushrooms (about 6) and fresh garlic ( 2 -3 cloves). Add one pound ground beef and 1/2 pound mild Italian sausage (or any combination of the two). Brown and drain. Add all the other spices. I also sub out a can of tomatoes for some of the tomato sauce.
Sometimes I use ricotta instead of cottage cheese. You can NEVER use too much mozzarella! Sometimes I add 1/2 c red wine to the sauce. Use nine noodles - perfect. I use pre-cooked gluten free.
