½ cup Crisco
½ cup butter (softened)
4 cups sifted powdered sugar
2 t half and half or whipping cream

Directions:

1. Cream butter and shortening with mixer.
2. Gradually add sugar.
3. Beat well on medium speed.
4. Add milk and beat again.

*If too soft add a little powdered sugar. If too stiff add a little more milk.

Mom has used this frosting to decorate cakes for as long as I can remember. She makes it softer when it is not going to be used for decorating, but a little stiffer if the cake will be decorated.
