1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 c. oats
12 oz. chocolate chips ( I use half that)

Coconut (about 1 c.)
Nuts (I like walnuts - about 1/2 to 3/4 cup)
Raisins (about 1/3 c.)

Preheat oven to 350.

Grease cookie sheets (I don't)

Cream shortening and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla.

Add combined dry ingredients. (Slowly add dry - beat until mixed - very thick dough)

Stir in chips and any optional ingredients you want.

Drop small golf-ball sized balls on cookie sheet. Bake about 10-12 minutes.
