1 cup butter
1½ cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1½ cups whole wheat or all purpose flour
2⅓ cups rolled oats
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 12 ounce package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1½ cup chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Beat together butter and brown sugar until creamy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, rolled oats, baking soda and salt and add to the wet mixture. Mix well. Stir in chocolate chips and chopped nuts. Spoon dough into ½ cup measuring cup. Turn out onto greased cookie sheet at least 5 inches apart and 2½ inches from pan edge. Lightly grease bottom of a pie pan. Dip in sugar and use to fatten each cookie into 5½ inch circle. Cook in a 350º oven for 15 minutes. Cool in pan 5 minutes. Finish cooling on racks.½

Big Oatmeal Raisin or Date Cookies:
Follow above recipe expect add 1 teaspoon cinnamon, ½ teaspoon nutmeg with flour. Omit chocolate chips and add 1½ cup raisins or dates.
