Ingredients: 3 cups flour 1 tsp salt 1 cup vegetable shortening 6 tbsp. cold water 5-7 McIntosh Apples Peeled and Sliced thin. (Must use McIntosh Apples as they break down better than other apples when baked.)

Directions: |
Directions:Mix flour, salt, shortening, and water by hand. Form and roll out dough. Place dough onto a 13 in. pizza pan (without holes), tuck and press edges to form a lip. Arrange apple slices on the dough in a circular rose-like pattern.
Notes: Mixing is hard, but do not add water. Roll out on parchment paper with rolling pin. Keep folding and rolling to avoid cracking. Can be sticky, so sprinkle a little flour if needed. |

Ingredients: 1 cup sugar 2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp nutmeg

Directions: |
Directions:Mix sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg well then pour/sprinkle over the apples.
Note: Shake mixture down to even out. |

TOPPING |

Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups flour 1 cup sugar 1 cup (2 sticks) margarine

Directions: |
Directions:Mix flour, sugar, and margarine together and roll out mixture. Cover the filling with the topping and pinch together with the crust lip.
Note: Roll out on parchment paper. Can be sticky, so sprinkle a little flour if needed.
Bake at 425 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes: This is an award winning recipe from the early 60's and has been modified slightly by my grandmother. This dessert is our family's favorite and is so delicious. I guarantee you have never had anything like this before!
