1 quart whole milk
1 1/4 cup cooked white rice
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup sugar
6 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
Nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350

Hand beat and mix sugar, eggs, vanilla
Place cooked rice and raisins in a 2 quart casserole dish
Pour mixture over rice and stir.
Sprinkle with nutmeg
Put casserole dish in pan with water

Bake for one hour. Preparation time 20 minutes

Maggie is my friend Maria's Mum. She would make this recipe often and as the story goes would always deliver it to families after they had lost a loved one.

For our family, this recipe felt especially comforting during this time of Covid when comfort food has felt so very important.
