1 can fruit cocktail
½ cup shortening
1½ cups sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1½ teaspoons baking soda
½ teaspoon vanilla
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup coconut
½ cup chopped pecans

Icing
1 small can of evaporated milk
½ stick of butter
1 cup sugar

Directions:
Directions:
In a mixing bowl cream the shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla. Add in the can of fruit cocktail. Set that aside and in another bowl mix the flour, baking soda and salt.
Add the dry ingredients to the shortening mixture and stir until smooth. Pour into a greased and floured pan. Crumble over top of batter brown sugar, coconut, and pecans.
Bake at 350º for 30 minutes of until knife comes out clean.

While the cake is cooling, in a sauce pan bring the milk, butter and sugar to a boil.
Boil for 10 minutes, cool slightly and pour over the cake.
