1 puff pastry - 2 sheets; defrosted
¼ lb. Black Forest ham slices
2 T. Dijon mustard
½ lb. Gruyere cheese, sliced (or cheddar grated works too)
1 egg; beaten with 1 T. water

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 450º. Place a piece of parchment paper on a sheet pan.
2. Lay 1 sheet of puff pastry on floured board. Roll out to 10x12 inch piece. Place on pan and brush center with mustard. Leave 1 inch border at edge. Layer ham and then cheese over the pastry and mustard. Brush the border with the egg wash.
3. Roll second pastry to a 10x12 inch piece and place on top of other sheet and filling. Line up the edges; press together lightly. Brush the top with the egg wash and cut a few slits to steam.
4. Bake for 20-25 minutes until puffed and golden. Allow to cool for a few minutes but serve hot.

I was watching the "Barefoot Contessa" and this looked amazing to me, so I had to try it! I've made it with diced ham before too and it is still amazing! I don't find Gruyere cheese very often, so we just use Swiss or Cheddar, depending on what we have on hand.
