½ c. shortening
1¼ c. sugar
2 eggs
2¼ c. cake flour
3 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. ginger
½ tsp. nutmeg
1 c. pumpkin
¾ c. milk
½ tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Cream shortening, add sugar, add beaten egg yolks. Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and spices. Sift again twice. Mix pumpkin, milk, and soda. Add cream mix- alternating with flour mixture. Add beaten egg whites and vanilla. Bake in two 9" pans. Oven at 350º for 30 minutes.
