½ c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1 c. applesauce
2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. allspice
½ tsp. cinnamon
¼ tsp. cloves
½ c. nuts
½ c. butterscotch pieces

Directions:
Cream shortening and brown sugar. Add egg and applesauce - beat well. Sift together flour, soda, salt, allspice, cinnamon, cloves. Stir in nuts and butterscotch pieces. Bake 10 minutes @ 375º.
