2 cups heavy cream
1/2 cup sugar
1 tbsp gelatin
2 tbsp cold water
1 pint sour cream
pinch salt (1 tbsp vanilla)

Directions:
Directions:
Heat cream, stirring just until boiling point. Remove from heat. Stir in sugar. Soften gelatin in water and add to hot cream. Stir mixture until gelatin is dissolved. Whisk in sour cream. Refrigerate mixture in one bowl or individual bowls until firm before serving. Top with fresh blueberries or strawberries. (this was all I had on hand)

This recipe was in a Junior League Cookbook given to me by my wonderful friend, Barbara Alfond, about 40 years ago. In March, I mentioned to Barbara I was bringing White Velvet to a friend who was sick. Ironically, Barbara told me she had been thinking about White Velvet and couldn't remember where the recipe was from so many years ago! We had a good laugh. But now, when I look back on that conversation, it's hard to believe that so many months have gone by, and I am making this soothing dessert just for us, for comfort - during what is described as the worst surge of the pandemic.
