Shrimp and Grits Recipe

2 cups chicken broth
2 ½ cups of water
1 cup quick cooking grits
1 tsp kosher salt
8 ounces sharp white cheddar grated (about 2 cups)
½ cup heavy cream
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 tsp garlic powder
Freshly ground pepper to taste
4 slices thick cut bacon chopped
1 pound of large uncooked shrimp peeled and deveined
1 clove of garlic minced
1 tablespoon minced fresh chives
1 tsp smoked paprika

Directions:
Directions:
1. In a large saucepan, combine the broth and water and bring to a boil
2. Pour in the grits and salt, stir constantly. Reduce heat to low and simmer, stir occasionally until the grits thicken (about 6-8 minutes)
3. Stir in the cheddar cheese, cream, butter, garlic power and pepper. Remove from heat and cover to keep warm.
4. In a skillet, cook bacon and stir occasionally so it does not bur. Remove once cooked and drain on a paper towel.
5. With the bacon drippings still in the pan, increase heat to medium- medium high and add the shrimp and fresh garlic to the skillet.
6. Cook, stir occasionally until the shrimp turns pink. (4-5 minutes)
7.Divide the grits into bowls and top with the shrimp and sprinkle with bacon crumbles, chives and smoked paprika.
