¾ cup Crisco (yes, Crisco)
1 cup sugar
¼ cup molasses
1 egg
2 tsp baking soda
½ tsp cloves
½ tsp ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp salt
2 cups sifted flour

Directions:
Directions:
Melt Crisco (yes, Crisco :); let cool.
Add sugar, molasses and egg. Beat well.
Sift flour, soda and spices; add to first mixture. Mix well.
Roll into balls and roll balls in sugar (I use red and green for Christmas). Place on greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart.
Crisscross balls with fork tines. Bake at 375º for 8-10 minutes.
