¾ cup Crisco
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups Quaker Oats (either quick or old fashioned uncooked)
¼ cup water
1 cup flour
½ teaspoon soda

Directions:
Directions:
Beat shortening, sugars, egg, water and vanilla until creamy. Mix together flour, salt and soda, Add to creamed mixture and blend well. Stir in oats. Drop by teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake in preheated oven at 350º for 12 to 15 minutes. When cool ice. Decorate with colored sugars or deco beads.

1 ½ cups confectioner sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoons milk (more if needed)
Food color optional

Melt butter in pan over medium heat. Remove from heat. Add to bowl containing sugar. Mix in vanilla and milk. Beat until smooth and of spreading consistency.
