1/2 c butter
1 1/2 c sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp baking powder
1 c water
2 1/2 c flour
3 Tbsp burnt sugar
1 tsp vanila

(make burnt sugar by placing 1/4 cup of sugar in granite pan over fire. Let stand until it throws off blue smoke. Add 1/4 cup hot water and melt.)

For frosting:
1 c sugar
1/2 c cream

Directions:
Directions:
Mix butter, sugar, eggs, baking powder, water, flour, burnt sugar and vanilla together.

No further instructions are given - I assume you mix it all together and put in baking pan and bake - probably at 350º until toothpick inserted in center come out clean.

For frosting:
mix sugar, cream and remaining burnt sugar together and cook until thick.
