1 c flour
3/4 c granulated sugar
2 T cocoa
2 t baking powder
1/4 t salt
1/2 c milk
2 T salad oil
1 t vanilla
1 c chopped nuts
1 c brown sugar (packed)
1/4 cc cocoa 1 3/4 c hottest tap water

Heat oven to 350' In ungreased square pan 9 x 9 x2" stir together flour, granulated sugar 2 T cocoa the baking powder and salt. Mix in oil and vanilla with fork, until smooth. Stir in nuts Spread evenly in pan. Sprinkle with brown sugar and 1/4 c cocoa. Pour hot water over batter. Bake 40 minutes. Let stand 15 minutes then spoon into dessert dishes or cut into squares. Invert each square onto s desert plate. Top with ice cream and spoon sauce over each serving.

to Microwave:
Measure the 1 3/4 c water into a 2 c glass measure Place in microwave oven to boil about 4 minutes. Substitute ungreased 2 quart glass casserole for square pan. Pour boiling water over batter in casserole. Cook uncovered 8 - 10 minutes or until cake is no longer doughy. Let stand a few minutes and then spoon into dessert dishes.
