2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder

The classic Chinese Five Spice mix unites the five flavors: sweet, sour, bitter, salty, and savory. Based on the traditional philosophy of balancing yin and yang, A delightful group of flavors - warm, cool, sweet and spicy – help balance this blend beautifully. Versatile Chinese Five Spice Powder is perfect for vegetables, rice, pork and virtually any kind of stir fry. A dash also adds excitement to muffins, nut breads and waffle or pancake batter. You can also put it in your coffee ground before brewing to add a new and exotic taste to your morning routine.

In a large nonstick skillet, cook pecans over medium heat until toasted, about 4 minutes. Add the brown sugar, syrup and five-spice powder. Cook and stir for 2-4 minutes or until sugar is melted. Spread on foil to cool. Store in an airtight container.
