1 ½ cups granulated sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
¼ cup corn syrup
½ cup water
1 pound unsalted butter
12 ounces chopped semi-sweet chocolate or chocolate bits
1 cup finely chopped almonds

Directions:
Directions:
In a heavy saucepan, combine sugars, corn syrup, water and butter. Stir constantly over high heat until mixture boils. Reduce heat to medium and cook without stirring until temperature reaches 300º on a candy thermometer. Pour onto a parchment lined 17x13 jelly roll pan (a baking sheet with sides). Refrigerate until firm.

Melt chocolate in a microwave safe bowl for about 3 minutes. Stirring halfway through and again at 30-second intervals until chocolate is melted. Pour over toffee and smooth evenly. Sprinkle almonds over chocolate before chocolate hardens.Let stand in a cool place until chocolate is set. Break into shards. Store at room temperature in layers separated by waxed paper.
