1 1/2 c. water
2 T. sugar
1 T. yeast
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. butter (1/2 stick)
garlic salt or garlic powder

Directions:
Directions:
Let sugar, water, and yeast sit 5 minutes. Add flour and salt and mix until smooth. Let rise for 10 minutes. Roll the dough into a large square on a floured board. Mix together the melted butter and the garlic and brush half of it onto the dough. Fold the dough in half and cut into 15-20 strips (about 1-inch wide). Twist each strip and place it on an ungreased cookie sheet. Let the twists sit for 15-20 minutes to rise. Bake the breadsticks at 400º for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. As soon as they come out of the oven, brush the tops with the remaining garlic butter.
