2 1/2 c thick applesauce
1 c butter
4 eggs
1 c flour
4 tsp baking soda
3 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp mace
1 tsp allspice
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp nutmeg
2/3 c unsulphered molasses
2 c brown sugar
6 T lemon juice
4 c flour
1 3/4 tsp salt
3 c fruit bits of choice (prepared candied fruits, chopped dates, chopped apricots, dried cranberries, etc)
1 c raisins
2 c chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 300º

Combine sugar, eggs & butter, cream well. Add remainder of ingredients & mix thoroughly..

Grease & flour 5 small loaf pans, It works well to line bottom of pan with parchment paper. Fill pans 1/2 full.

Bake 1 1/2 hours, or until toothpick comes clean from center. Remove from oven & cool slightly. Slide blade of knife around edges of cake to release from pan. Turn pan upside down to dump cake out onto cooling rack, Cool completely
