1 t salt
⅔ C shortening
6 T cold water
Less than ⅛ c milk- optional
½ t sugar

Sift then measure flour and salt together. Cut shortening into the flour. Add cold water to the mixture. Toss, press into a ball and chill. Roll out to make two 10 inch crusts.

*I don’t sift. Scoop flour into the measuring cup with a spoon.
*I like Crisco for the shortening. It comes in solid bars. Butter is good.
*Cut the shortening into the flour until it forms small pea size pieces.
*After adding the water, mix just until it forms into dough. Don’t over mix or it will make a tough crust!
*Add filling and top crust if desired. Brush the top crust with a little bit of milk just enough to dampen a little bit, then, sprinkle the sugar and bake.
*For a no bake pie (cream pies some fruit pies) bake the crust before adding the filling. Prick the crust with a fork in the pie pan. Then bake 450 degrees for 10 minutes until golden brown.
