Personal Notes:
This recipe was given to my mom and me by Helen Atwell. Her husband was Captain Al Atwell, Bill Proses boss, in the Philippines when we lived there (1987-1990). We had a giant mango tree in our yard. This pie was always a favorite using our fresh mangos. One year a Typhoon brought heavy winds to Luzon, our tree split down the middle. Half of the tree fell in the back yard. Then when the eye passed, the wind direction changed and the other half fell in our side yard. We lost our entire crop! When the eye was on us, all the kids went outside to roller skate. As the wind picked up speed, we all went inside.
