Directions:
Directions:
Find a pub where the owner or one of his family tends the bar. Stroll up to the bar and sit on a stool near to what looks like regular patrons. Order the best local beer on tap in a cold of glass and strike up a friendly conversation with anyone who will listen. Take a good long swig, swap tales with your new buddies and begin to relax.

Personal Notes:
Gigi loves a good pub and these legendary quotations sum up her feelings: "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." "There is nothing which has yet been contrived by man by which so much happiness is produced as by a good tavern." "When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading." "Few things are more pleasant than a village graced with a good church, a good priest and a good pub." "Everybody needs to believe in something. I believe I’ll have another beer."

Gigi's Favorite Pub Story: We were with our travel group in Ireland in 2000. One night was spent in a cozy old pub in Killarney. There were twelve of us but we managed to squeeze around a table near the bar and close to the music. A couple of beers into the evening, an old man came through the door and shuffled towards our table. As he got closer, we noticed that he seemed a bit agitated. The bartender leaned over and whispered, "you're sitting in his seat." Somehow space was made for the gentleman and he tottered to his spot. Before he could sit, a tumbler full of whiskey was placed on the table before him. He sat, introduced himself, and began chatting and sipping away. His name was Danny McSweeney, 81, one of eleven with eight children himself. The Irish are the best talkers and story tellers in the world and Danny didn't disappoint. He was fascinating, charming and funny. As he neared the bottom of his glass a second tumbler appeared without a word exchanged between the barkeep and Danny. My buddy Shawn Hendon was amused. He inquired, "Danny, do you come here every day?" Danny answered, "No, just the nights." I love the Irish.
