1½ cups cornmeal
1⅓ cups all purpose flour
2 tsp white sugar
¼ cup butter
2 eggs
1½ cups buttermilk
½ tsp salt
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp baking powder
2 tsp bacon grease or oil

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375ºF. Grease a 9 x 13 pan. Melt butter in a large bowl. Stir in sugar.Then add eggs and beat until well blended. Combine buttermilk, baking soda and baking powder and stir into the rest of the mixture in the bowl. Add in the cornmeal, flour, and salt. Then blend well. Pour into the greased pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. This recipe works well in a cast iron skillet.
