8 boards of matzah
1 cup sweet red wine
¼ cup water
½ lb or 1 stick of margarine or butter, melted
1 cup raisins
1 cup walnuts, chopped
¾ cup sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
pinch of allspice
5 egg whites

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375º. Grease an 8" square baking pan.

2. Combine wine and water. Soak matzot in this mixture to soften. Reserve unused wine mixture.

3. Mix together raisins, walnuts, sugar, cinnamon, and allspice. Set aside.

4. Beat egg whites until stiff, but not dry.

5. Place 1 matzah on the bottom of the prepared pan. Sprinkle with melted margarine and spread evenly with nut mixture. Cover with beaten egg whites. Top with another matzah and continue to alternate layers until all the matzah are used. Finish off with the egg whites.

6. Bake for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and pour the remaining wine over the dish. Return to oven and bake for 5 minutes longer. Let cool and then cut into squares.
