¾ c. shortening (1/2 butter)
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
3 Tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
¾ tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
2 c. oatmeal
1½ c. chopped dates
¾ c. chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, sugar, eggs, milk, and vanilla thoroughly. Blend dry ingredients and mix in. Stir in dates and nuts. Chill. Heat oven to 375º. Roll dough in 1¼” balls. Place 3” apart on greased cookie sheet. Flatten with bottom of glass dipped in flour. Bake 10-12 minutes.
