1 c. shortening (part butter)
½ c. brown sugar
2 eggs, separated
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
½ tsp. salt
1 ½ c. finely chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350º. Mix shortening, sugar, egg yolks and vanilla thoroughly. Blend together flour and salt. Stir in. Roll dough into 1 tsp. balls. Beat egg whites with fork. Dip balls in egg whites with fork. Roll in nuts. Place 1” apart on ungreased baking sheet; press thumb gently in center of each. Bake 10-12 minutes or until set. Cool. Fill with jelly.
