½ c. shortening
½ c. butter, softened
1½ c. white sugar
2 eggs
2¾ c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. salt
2 tbsp. white sugar
2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º. Mix butter, shortening, 1½ c. white sugar, and eggs thoroughly. Separately, mix flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt. Stir dry ingredients into wet ingredients. Refrigerate if necessary. Roll into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll balls into cinnamon and remaining sugar mixture. Place 2 inches apart on baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes. These cookies puff up at first, then flatten out.
