1 c lard (Can use shortening, but in won't taste like grandma's then!)
1 c brown sugar
1 c white sugar
Mix together then add:
2 eggs
1 t vanilla
1½ c flour
1 t soda
1 t salt
3 c quick cooking oatmeal
1 c chocolate chips

Bake at 350º for 10-12 minutes.

Grandma Helen often only had a small handful of chocolate chips in her cookies. Thus the reason her son, Bob, had to always look at the cookies before he took one to make sure he got one with a chip in it!
