2 large eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup of brown sugar, packed
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup black walnuts, chopped fine

Directions:
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, combine eggs, butter, and sugars, mix well. Separately, mix flour, baking soda, cream of tartar,and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients into wet and beat. Add vanilla. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often till well mixed, about 3-4 minutes. Stir in nuts. Divide dough in half, shape each half into a 12x2" roll. Wrap in waxed paper, refrigerate till firm, at least 2 hours or overnight. Preheat oven to 350º. Cut rolls into 1/4" slices. Place 1" apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 9-12 minutes or light golden brown. Remove from sheets immediately. Cool on wire racks completely.
