6 cups flour

3/4 cup shortening
2 yeast cakes
4 tsp baking powder
1 cup raisins
3 cups of milk scalded or 3/4 cup powdered milk + 8 cups warm water
1 cup sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Make a sponge with 3 cups milk, 3 cups four and 2 yeast cakes, let stand 1 hour.Mix together in a bowl, 1 cup raisins, shortening, sugar and eggs. Add salt and baking powder to the 3 remaining cups of flour. Add all to sponge, stir well let raise 1 more hour. This will be a very soft dough but mixes well when placed on floured board Use 1/3 of mixture at a time. Roll square and ⅛ inch thick, spread with butter, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture using 1 T cinnamon to 5 T of sugar. You will need 3 T cinnamon and 15 T sugar for this much dough. Roll up and cut in 8 to 10 cuts for each 1/3 of dough. Ice while hot with 3/4 pkg of powdered sugar and 1 tsp vanilla and 1 tsp lemon extract or 3 tsp fresh orange juice mixd with hot water until medium thin. Bake rolls at 375º gas oven for 15 to 20 minutes, makes 24 large rolls.

This was a family favorite, I remember Grandma McCormick making them all the time. My mother (Joan Gamble) Lois McCormick's daughter would make them every year for our Christmas breakfast. She would often make them and share them with neighbors. On 2 or 3 occasions she would make them for the Butler 7th Wards 4th of July breakfast. They definitely were a hit!
