Directions:Cream lard & sugar. Add boiling water. Cool to lukewarm. Add eggs. Dissolve yeast in cold water & add to mix. Add flour & salt. Mix well. Store in refrigerator overnight or let rise until doubled. Knead afterwards. Roll out ˝” thick. Brush with butter & sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon. (I divide dough in 3 balls and do this to make 3 9x13 pans each. Roll out and cut in 3/4” slices. Prepare pan dressing before rolling out so ready for rolls. Heat all ingredients together until smoothly blended. Divide into 3 sprayed 9x13 pans. Sprinkle lots of pecans on top. Place rolls cut side down in pans. Cover & allow to rise until light (at least 2 hours). It depends on how big you want rolls. Bake at 400 until nicely brown—about 15 minutes.
This was originally made by Edna Chittick, Richard's stepmom. Nancy makes them every Christmas, especially if visiting Jane & Don. (Jane is Richard's sister) |
