1 medium red onion, very thinly sliced
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup red wine vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons of salt
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Directions:
Directions:
1. Combine water, vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper flakes in saucepan.

2. Bring to gentle simmer over medium heat. Heat mixture until salt and sugar fully desolve.

3. Place thinly sliced onions in a heat safe container.

5. Poor cooked liquids over and fully cover onions.

6. Cover and let stand 20-30mins.

Best within 2-3 days but, will keep for a week sealed and refrigerated.
