Directions: |
Directions:Sauté the ground beef and drain. Combine tomato sauce, puree and paste in a large stock pot. Add water to the empty cans stirring to remove all the left overs and add to the tomato mixture. Add the sauteed ground beef. Gently stir in the seasonings. The amount of salt, pepper and wine can be adjusted to your taste. Add the wine after the mixture has cooked for an hour. Simmer uncovered over low heat for 2 to 2½ hours, stirring occasionally. Make sure to stir all the way to the bottom of the pan. The sauce will thicken as it cooks. Remove the bay leaves before serving or freezing. It can be served over spaghetti or angel hair pasta or used to make lasagne. Cool any unused sauce and freeze. |

Notes: I serve this sauce over Colavita Angel Hair Pasta or Colavita Angel Hair Nests. If making lasagne, I use Barilla oven-ready lasagne and finely shredded mozzarella cheese. Don't skimp on the sauce. Begin the layering with sauce and finish with cheese. Lightly sprinkle oregano over the final layer of cheese before baking. Extra sauce can be added if desired when you plate the lasagne.
