Biscuit Dough

2 cups Bisquick or Baking Mix
3/4 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese
3/4 cup cold water
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon dry parsley flakes (optional)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning (optional)

Directions:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Mix together the baking mix, cheese, and water. Knead briefly. Roll out dough on a floured surface to 1-inch thick. Cut biscuits with a cutter and place on an ungreased baking sheet. Combine the butter and spices, and brush the biscuits with this mixture. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Brush with butter mixture again.
 

Baking Mix


Ingredients:

DRY:
2 cups whole-wheat pastry flour
2 cups cake flour
1 cup dry milk
1 tablespoon baking powder
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

WET:
1/2 cup (1 stick unsalted butter)
1/2 cup light olive oil

Put the dry ingredients in a food processor and pulse to blend. Cut the butter into chunks, add to the flour mix and pulse until the butter is the size of peas. Add the olive oil with the machine running. Store unused mix in a zip-lock bag in the freezer.
