Boiling method

I cabbage ( about 3 pounds)
1 very large large deep pot

Remove the entire core of the cabbage with a paring knife. Partially fill a large pot with warm water being sure that there is room to add the cabbage without having the water over flow. It is a good idea to be sure the cabbage will fit before the water is brought to a boil. . Bring water to a boil and immerse the head of cabbage in the boiling water for a few minutes. You can allow the water to be at a simmer rather than a full boil. It may take longer to cook the cabbage but it will be less likely to boil over or burn you.Place a cover on the pot while the cabbage is cooking. Peeling off each leaf with tongs as soon as it’s flexible. Set the leaves aside to drain and cool. Depending on the size of each leaf, you will need at least 14 leaves.
 

Microwave method

1 large micro wave safe pot with a cover
1/2 cup water

Remove the core from the cabbage using a thin, long knife or paring knife.Place the cabbage in a microwave proof container with a lid with core side down. Pour 1/2 cup water into the container with the cabbage, cover and microwave on HIGH (full power) for 10 minutes. Carefully turn the cabbage over and cook covered for an additional 10 minutes. When cabbage is cooked, let sit until it is cool enough to handle. Separate leaves carefully, removing any tough ribs.
