about 2½ c. flour
1 tsp. salt
3 tsp. baking powder
6 tbsp. shortening
1 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Mix about 2 cups flour with salt and baking powder.
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture.
Add shortening and milk and mix with hands.
Gradually add in more flour until it makes a soft dough.
Roll biscuit dough into balls and place in a greased pan.
Bake at 450º 12-15 minutes; then brown under the broiler.

Personal Notes:
For buttermilk biscuits, reduce baking powder to 2 tsp. Add ¼ tsp. soda to 1 cup buttermilk before adding to dry ingredients.
