Personal Notes:

Just a handful of ingredients and a few easy steps turn into a unique sweet treat. This hard cake (or cookie) was handed down by an Austrian grandmother who served it as a morale booster during World War 1 when luxuries were few. It's great with milk for kids, but Grandma dunked a piece into a glass of red wine.
