Oatmeal Pie Crust |
Ingredients: |
Ingredients: 1/2 cup whole-wheat pastry flour 1/4 cup all-purpose white flour 1/2 cup oatmeal 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/3 cup unsalted butter 4-6 tablespoons cold water
Directions: |
Directions:Put the flours, oatmeal and salt in the bowl of a food processor. Pulse a few times to combine. Cut the butter into small chunks, put in the food processor and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Turn the mixture into a large bowl and add the water, a tablespoon at a time, stirring with a fork, until the pastry forms a ball. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill about an hour. Unwrap and put on floured surface. Pat the dough down into a disc, using flour as needed. Roll out the dough to form a 13-inch circle. Fit loosely into a 9-inch pie pan. Flute the edges. Place in the freezer until firm, about 15 minutes. |
