1 C Soft Shortening
1½ C Sugar
2 Eggs
2¾ C Flour
2 tsp Cream of Tartar
1 tsp Baking Soda
½ tsp Salt

2 T Sugar
2 tsp Cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Blend together shortening, sugar and eggs.

Sift flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.

In separate bowl, mix together 2 T of sugar and 2 tsp of cinnamon and set aside.

Stir the flour mixture into the sugar and shortening mixture.

Chill dough then roll into balls the size of a walnut. Roll into sugar and cinnamon mixture. Place about 2 inches apart on a baking sheet.

Bake in 400º oven for 8 to 10 minutes.

As a child these were my favorite Christmas cookie. The recipe was even published in my kindergarten recipe book that was given to the parents as a Christmas gift.
