Barbecue Beef Brisket Recipe

Ingredients: 4 lbs beef brisket ⅓ cup brisket rub (see below) ½ cup beef broth 2 cups Barbecue sauce - homemade or store bought cooking spray
Brisket Rub: Mix together and store in airtight container
⅓ cup brown sugar 2 Tbsp paprika 1 Tbsp smoked paprika (I didn't have) 2½ tsp black pepper freshly ground 1 Tbsp kosher salt 1 Tbsp garlic powder 1 Tbsp onion powder ¾ tsp mustard powder ¼ tsp cayenne pepper

Directions:1. Preheat oven 300º. Coat the meat with the brisket rub.
2. Coat a baking dish large enough to hold the meat with cooking spray Pour the beef broth into the bottom of the pan.
3. Place the meat into the dish. Pour 1 cup of the barbecue sauce over the top.
4. Cover the dish tightly with foil. Bake for 3½ hours or until meat is tender.
5. Remove the meat from the dish and place on a sheet pan coated with cooking spray. Brush ¼ cup of BBQ sauce over the top of the brisket.
6. Broil for 3-5 minutes until caramelized. Watch carefully to make sure it does not burn.
7. Let meat rest for 10 minutes. Thinly slice against the grain, then serve with the remaining BBQ sauce. |
