6 egg yolks
1¼ c. sugar
1¼ c. Mascarpone cheese
1¾ c. heavy whipping cream
2 (3 oz. each) packs ladyfingers
1/3 c. coffee liqueur or brandied expresso*
1/2 cup whipping cream
1 T. unsifted confectioners sugar
1/4 t. vanilla



*Brandied Expresso:
1/3 c. hot water
2 t. instant coffee
1 t. brandy

Directions:

Combine egg yolks and sugar. Cook 8-10 minutes in double boiler, stirring constantly. Remove from heat , add cheese, and beat well. Whip cream until stiff peaks form. Fold into egg mixture. Line 3 qt. flat dish with ladyfinger halves. Brush with coffee liqueur. Spoon 1/2 of egg yolk mixture over ladyfingers. Repeat layers of ladyfingers, liqueur and egg yolk mixture. Whip 1/2 cup whipping cream with confectioners sugar and vanilla. Spread whipping cream over top. Garnish with unsweetened chocolate cocoa or semisweet chocolate curls. Refrigerate.

If you need a substitute for mascarpone cheese, cream together 8 oz. cream cheese, 1/4 c. sour cream, and 2 T. whipping cream until fluffy.
