1 cup butter (2 sticks), softened
2 cups sugar
3 cups flour
4 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
dash of salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 350º

Sift dry ingredients together (I rarely do this. I usually whisk them together thoroughly)
Set dry ingredients aside
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy, about 15 minutes on my Kitchenaid
Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition
Add vanilla extract blending well
Alternate dry ingredients with buttermilk beating well after each addition and ending with the dry ingredients
Bake @ 350º in Bundt pan for 60-70 minutes.

You can substitute almond extract, if you wish.

My Mom, Ella Laura Lord, was a great cook and baker...except for her piecrust! HA!
She made this pound cake frequently and it is delicious, having a rich, buttery flavor!
