Ingredients:
Ingredients:
6 eggs
•1 cup butter 2 sticks
•3 cups sugar
•3 cups all purpose flour (I am a diehard Lilly White flour cook)
•1 cup whipping cream also known as Heavy Cream
•1 teaspoon vanilla (I prefer vanilla/butter nut flavoring)

Directions:
Directions:
A couple of hours before you start mixing the cake set out eggs and butter to allow them to come to room temperature. If stick butter is frozen, once it has thawed some you can shred the butter and it will work fine.

Grease and flour tube pan (I use Pam with flour spray) and set aside. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating for one minute after each addition. Sift the flour and add it to the creamed mixture alternately with the whipping cream. Mix until fully incorporated. Stir in the vanilla/butter nut flavoring.

Pour into prepared pan and place in a cold oven. Turn the oven to 300 degrees and bake for 80-90 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool completely before removing from pan. I have found that if you are using an electric stove I have to cook about 20 minutes longer.

Notes: From where I got the recipe on Southern Plate. I have noted my slight change above with the flavoring.

Note: I make this recipe, every time, exactly as written using the ingredients exactly as written. I don't recommend any substitutions or additions.

Personal Notes:
My husband's favorite cake has always been the old fashioned pound cake. Everything that I have tried through the years was always compared to Mrs. Bonnie's pound cake from one of our church members. This is the first recipe that I have finally mastered that is considered as good as Mrs. Bonnie's and that is the greatest compliment that I could ever receive.
