Ginger Bread Men Recipe

1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. molasses
1 egg
2 T. vinegar
5 c. flour
1 t. soda
t. salt
1 t. cinnamon
2-3 t. ginger
1 t. cloves

Cream sugar with shortening. Stir in molasses, egg, and vinegar. Beat well.
Sift dry ingredients and mix with liquid ingredients.
Chill about three hours.
Roll dough to ⅛" thickness on a lightly floured surface and cut with gingerbread cook cutter or others. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 5-6 min.
Cool and decorate with red hots, raisins, or chocolate chips.
